Master Shao began training in Chinese Martial Arts (Wushu-Kung Fu) at the early age of five. By the age of six, he was selected and trained under the guidance of China’s renowned Grand Master Zhang Tong & Grand Master Ma Xian Da. At age 15, he starred in the Hong Kong produced Kung Fu Film, “Shaolin Tong Zi Gong” to promote Chinese Martial Arts/Shaolin Kung Fu.

Master Shao was the National Open Champion of China in 1989 & 1990. He was invited to perform 2 events for the Opening Ceremony at the 1990 Asian Olympic Games in Beijing. Due to his achievements and knowledge, he was appointed Coach of China’s prestigious Beijing University of Physical Education Tai Chi and Wushu team. He is the Vice-President of The Martial Arts and Medical Research Institute of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Association (Beijing, China). In 1994, he was invited to Malaysia as a specialist coach to improve the Tai Chi and Wu Shu standard skills and knowledge there.

Master Shao’s Broadsword and Cudgel form were selected for the textbook used by University and Institutes of Sport in China. And in the field of Chinese medicine He is the author of “The Study of Therapeutic Massage for Injury”, which is now a text-book and subject at Beijing University of Physical Education.

Dedication to his studies and training has resulted in his attainment of ‘Wu Ying’ (the highest level of Wushu-Kung Fu) awarded by the Sports Commission of China.

Traditional Chinese Medicine and Chinese Martial Arts are closely related and Master Shao has studied and graduated from Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Beijing University of Physical Education, and holds a Master Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine – Acupuncture. Master Shao has a clinical practice in Traditional Chinese Medicine in Melbourne.

He is the founder and Chief Instructor of the Tai Chi Wushu Institute Australia, teaching Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Kung Fu-Wushu & Bagua in Melbourne. He has a team of instructors, and conducts classes across various locations in Victoria, teaching specially designed programs to suit people of all ages and fitness levels. He currently holds 7th Dan for Kung Fu-Wushu and Tai Chi and is the only person from Oceana region to be an International Grade-A Judge. He is the Australian National Team Coach, and many of his students have become national and international champions.
